Notes: My sister pointed out that Bella and Rodolphus bear a resemblance to Arwen and Aragorn, but let's pretend they don't, okay? And my mistake with black paint (that made Bella's ear pointed) does not help. Done for [info]kirixchi because she showed me a gorgeous Johnny Depp picture. :D Watercolor, gold powder, colored pencil, colored markers and chalk pastels on watercolor paper.

Just wanted to add - I really like the clean lines and composition of this pic. The colours in the background are really nice.

And so many different types of media in one pic! It has me intregued. What exactly is 'gold powder'?

I use the different media in layers, like Bella's hair is a combination of two layers of watercolor and a layer of black Copic, some shadows are brushed on with chalk pastels using an eyeshadow brush (unfortunately my scanner can't pick up subtle details like that =_=).

As for gold powder, I just buy gold paint (my chosen brand is Sakura) and I take the yellow paint base from it using a blow dryer and a lot of water (if I use it in its paint form, it ruins the colors I mix with it). It's a tedious process and a lot of people think I'm crazy for doing it, but I think it's worth it. :) I also do it with silver paint, but I don't get as much character in the piece as with gold powder and jewel colors.

Omg, this is so weird--I'm drawing something right now with almost exactly the same composition...not HP related, but still.
It won't be half as lovely as yours, though, which is absolutely gorgeous. I love everything about it...really, I'm in awe. The lines are simple and beautiful and however you did the background, it really works.
And I didn't notice the resemblance until you mentioned it :)

oh wow.. that's absolutely gorgeous!!!
I love the clean lines that you've used, and the subtle shades of the skin.. And the hair.. *whimpers* gorgeous.. just gorgeous.. And the way you had their eyes staring into eachother (sort of..) is brilliant.

Wow. That is amazing. I love how I can catch the shininess of gold (or I'm going nuts) and theres a slight resemblance but Aragorn was so much manly and shagg-able-ier. /:D I love the clean lines and the background.
